Vintage 1965 Portmeirion Monte Sol Coffee Set by Susan Williams-Ellis

  

A groovy Monte Sol tall Totem style coffee set in the green/blue colourway. The original design was sketched by Susan William-Ellis while at the'Monte Sol' hotel in Ibiza. Whilst on holiday there, the rich colours of her surroundings and all things Moorish, inspired her to doodle one day at breakfast.

Using only felt tip pens she designed a paisley based motif with rosettes and crowns. The original designs were hardly changed when adapted for the Serif/Totem shape range for coffee sets in 1965.

This motif really reflects what was happening in the late 60's and early seventies. Great condition and very stylish.
